Synopsis

Construction foreman Wedge Donovan (John Wayne) of the Navy Seabees, a fighting work battalion to be stationed near Japanese lines in the Pacific, and naval Lt. Comdr. Bob Yarrow (Dennis O'Keefe) compete in Washington for the beautiful journalist Connie Chesley (Susan Hayward), while preparing to engage the enemy in a massive assault.
