Synopsis
Eddie, played by Academy Award winner Robert Duvall, is a maverick cop, suspended from the New York force after a junkie falls to his death during a police scuffle. When Eddie learns that his former partner has been murdered, he becomes obsessed with avenging his death. Eddie's raw determination is the motivating force behind his life. Like The French Connection, the picture was inspired by the dramatic exploits of Eddie Egan.
