The vintage, WW2-era P-51 Mustang fighter featured in Top Gun: Maverick is Tom Cruise's personal plane, which he's owned since 2001. Built in 1946, it was originally a Navy photo-reconnaissance plane named 'Montana Miss' and in the 1960s became a museum exhibit. Cruise restored it, renamed it 'Kiss Me Kate', and regularly flies it.
